Concentric Circles

I’ve been thinking a lot about circles lately haha.
Concentric ones! The kind that ripple out from the center of a life, each ring holding the things that matter us: people, habits, goals, hobbies...maybe even little obsessions that once felt like they would become our entire personality and now live in a storage bin somewhere (looking at you, candle-making supplies from Covid).
We spend our lives moving things closer and farther from our center of gravity. Sometimes with intention, sometimes because life grabs the furniture and rearranges the room while you are still standing in it, with nothing left to hold but a lamp.
Mostly, I’ve been thinking about these circles in terms of people, though. How some drift closer over time while some drift farther away. And some keep coming back! More ellipticals than circles.
I don’t know that we get to control how long anyone stays in our orbit, but I do think we get some say in how we honor them while they’re around.
As I get older, I’m trying to do that by telling them I love them more. To witness their lives. To show up when I can. To give them my attention, which feels increasingly like one of the last sacred things we own, mostly because every app or obligation is trying to steal it.
So I’ll leave you with the same question I’m carrying into the weekend:
What and who are in your concentric circles right now?
And how are you honoring them?
Feel free to share ofc, but mainly, feel free to answer in how you live your life.
Happy Friday!
